At
this year’s International Consumers Electronic Show, record number of Chinese
companies took part to show their latest innovations and gadgets. Beijing-based
company Uchair Technologies also participated at the world’s biggest electronic
trade show and presented what they claims to be the world’s first integrated
ergonomic PC chair. The chair, which is intended to work similarly to a
recliner, is made specifically to solve this ongoing dilemma and create a
comfortable environment for your body. The lime green upholstered recliner
comes with an embedded keyboard on both sides of the arm rest as well as a
compartment situated slightly above your head to place your computer in.
With
uChair,
the user can simply sit back, adjust the recliner's headrest, pull out a
laptop, tablet, or screen attached to the articulated bracket and type away
without having to hunch over the keyboard or sit in uncomfortable positions.
The
uChair certainly looks far more comfortable than the typical home improvement chair and
it should be much more comfortable to type without having to sit at a desk. On
the other hand, using a split keyboard is no easy task, particularly as the
halves are quite far apart from each other. It may be a bit more difficult for
those who always type with their eyes on the keyboard, but it likely gets
easier in time.
Since you should stand up and
move around regularly, being this close to horizontal may not be the best idea
if you're already a sedentary type.
Researchers
from Beijing uChair Technologies thought about this, and came up with the
perfect solution – the uChair! It is basically a chair that lets you type in
total comfort! It is designed to work like a recliner. It comes with a split
keyboard embedded in the armrests. So all you have to do is sit back, adjust
the head rest, pull up the screen with your laptop or attached, and just relax – literally. Of course, it can be a little
disconcerting to use the split keyboard at first, but you will soon get used to
it. The idea is to prevent neck and shoulder strain, not to mention lower back , with
this home and office furniture chair. Of course, it doesn’t mean you should take it as an
excuse to never leave your chair at all. It also comes with a footrest with switches
that can be customized for keyboard functions like entering return. There is
also space on the right armrest for a mouse.
The
uCHAIR range is a smart and elegant update of a classic cantilevered typology. Flat
oval steel tubing, formed into simple shapes make up this series of upholstered
low-chairs available in high-back and low-back versions and accompanied by an
ottoman. The design is intentionally low-tech and simple, offering a sober
yet sophisticated piece of furniture, appropriate for office use, waiting areas
or the home. Various colours and finishes are available, from leather to
fabric, in full or in dual-tone
